How/Where do I pay a citation?
Fines can be paid in person, by phone, by mail at the Villa Rica Police Department, 101 Main Street, Villa Rica, GA 30180 or online - Pay Traffic Ticket. Forms of payment accepted are: Cash, Money Orders, Checks, Credit Cards-Visa and Master Card.

When can I pay a citation?
Payments are accepted 24 hours, 7 days a week. Please note that we will only take web payments up until midnight the night before your court date.
What is the latest I can pay my citation prior to my court date?
All payments for the court time of 9:00 a.m. will be accepted until 8:00 am of the day of your scheduled court. All payments for the court time of 1:30 p.m. will be accepted until 12:00 p.m. of the day of your scheduled court. Please note that web payments will only be accepted until mid-night on the Thursday before your court.

Who is the Municipal Court Judge?
Judge Timothy McCreary

Will the Judge discuss my case prior to court?
No, he will only discuss your case once you appear before him.

Do I have to have an attorney?
No.

Where is Court Held?
101 Main Street, Villa Rica, GA 30180 in the building next to the Villa Rica Police Department.

Can I get an extension on my court date?
Only if you are incarcerated, in the hospital or scheduled to appear in another court on the same day and time.

What is the proper attire for court?
No shorts, no halter tops, no crop tops, no tank tops, no suggestive or offensive material on attire, all hats must be removed and shoes are required. If you are dressed inappropriate you will be asked to leave.

Can I bring my cell phone, pager or any other noise making device inside the courtroom?
No, these will not be allowed in the court room even if they are turned off. If you do bring them to court you will be asked to return them to your vehicle.

How do I get a public defender?
You will need to make an application for a public defender at your arraignment.

Will I be subject to security check before entering the courtroom?
Yes, you and your belongings are subject to a security check at anytime.

FAQ for Police Department

How do I get a copy of a Police Report?
All accident and incident reports can be picked up at the Villa Rica Police Department. There is a $5.00 charge for all reports. Please allow at least three (3) days from the incident or accident to allow us time to process the report.

How do I obtain a Server's ID?
You must provide a seven (7yr) driver's history and a photo ID. The hours which server's ID's will be made are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. & 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. For a first time server's ID the cost will be $25.00 and for renewals it will be $10.00.

How do I obtain a criminal background check?
You must provide a photo ID. The cost will be $25.00

What types of payments does the Villa Rica Police Department accept?
We accept cash, check, money order, Visa and Master Card.

What is the Citizens' Academy?
The Citizen's Academy is a group of Villa Rica citizens who are learning more about how their police department operates and the challenges our city faces. Participants in each session commit to two hours one night per week, for ten weeks, to learn about the department.

What is the purpose of the Citizens' Academy?
The purpose of the Villa Rica Police Citizens' Academy is to develop relations between the police and community through education. The goals are to create a growing nucleus of responsible, well informed citizens who have the potential of influencing public opinions about police practices and services. Citizens will gain an appreciation of the problems and challenges facing law enforcement and have an opportunity to offer comments and ideas regarding solutions.

Who instructs the Academy?
Instructors are officers and personnel from the department who speak on their areas of expertise, as well as specialized guest speakers.

What subjects are covered?
Some of the subjects covered in previous sessions have been:
K-9 Enforcement/Interdiction, Judges/County District Attorney Offices/City Court, Narcotics Enforcement, Carroll County Sheriff Department/SWAT, Uniform Patrol, Internal Affairs, GBI Crime Sketch Artist, Criminal Investigations, Traffic Enforcement, Firearms Training Simulator, Driving Simulator, Simunition Scenarios

How are participants selected?
Participants are selected through an application process.

How do I apply for the Citizens' Academy?
You will fill out an application at the Villa Rica Police Department.

When is the next Citizens' Academy?
Fall of 2006.

Can I get security checks at my house when I am on vacation?
Yes. You can request a special patrol request either by phone or in person at the Villa Rica Police Department.

How do I file a complaint on an officer or an employee of the Villa Rica Police Department?
Complaints may be taken either in person or by phone.

How many officers and civilians are employed by the Villa Rica Police Department?
Currently we have 35 sworn police officers and 8 civilian employees.

How do I apply to be a police officer at the Villa Rica Police Department?
You will need to pick up an application packet at the Villa Rica Police Department. We take applications only in person on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and on Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. You will be required to have all the information and/or documents listed in the application packet before you can begin the application process.
