THE STATE OF GEORGIA HAS DECLARED A DROUGHT LEVEL IV - TOTAL OUTDOOR WATERING BAN

NO OUTSIDE WATERING EXCEPT FOR THE FOLLOWING CIRCUMSTANCES:

Existing Landscape

While drinking water supplies remain sufficient, each household, business or other institution/property owner will be allowed to hand water, using one garden hose or watering container, existing landscaping for 25 minutes on each allowed day between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 10:00 a.m.. The hose must be hand held during watering and equipped with a standard spray nozzle that automatically turns off when not hand held. Odd-numbered addresses may hand water Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Even-numbered addresses may hand water Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Newly Installed Landscape

Newly installed landscaping, including trees, shrubs, sod or planted lawns, which has been in place less than 30 days may be watered up to three days a week within the hours of 12:00 midnight to 10:00 a.m. and only for 10 consecutive weeks and during plant installation. Newly installed landscaping at odd-numbered addresses may be watered Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Newly installed landscaping at even-numbered addresses may be watered Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Any person watering newly installed landscaping must still complete, and submit to the Villa Rica Police Department, a Level IV Landscape Exemption form which can be printed from the City’s website at document-downloads.html. Additionally, any business, person, institution or other entity must register with the Outdoor Water Use Registration Program at http://www.urbanagcouncil.com/  by order of the Environmental Protection Division.

Swimming Pools

No filling of pools may be allowed during the current drought. However, the levels of previously filled swimming pools may be maintained during the permissible watering times specified for existing landscape.

Other Exemptions:

  • Garden Centers
  • Commercial Nurseries
  • Commercial Car Washes
  • Personal Vegetable Gardens - Midnight to 10am only
  • Newly installed landscaping by a professional landscaper may be watered for a period of 30 days from the day of planting - Midnight to 10am only printable form available under Documents Menu

PLEASE HELP CONSERVE OUR WATER RESOURCES

You can start water conservation in your home today.

Here are tips to save water:

  • Don't let the water run while washing dishes, shaving, or brushing your teeth. Take shorter showers... showers less than 5 minutes can save up to 1,000 gallons per month. Plug the bathtub before turning water on, and then adjust the temperature as the tub fills up.
  • Fix leaky faucets: Just one drip a second can waste 2,000 gallons of water per year. If practical, try to run the dishwasher or washing machine only when completely full.
  • If you live in an older home, consider replacing your plumbing with low-flow fixtures and low-flush toilets.
  • Place a bucket in the shower to catch excess water to later water plants. This also works when washing dishes or vegetables in the sink. Use the garbage disposal minimally and compost instead. For more water saving tips and other drought response information go to http://www.vrdrought.org/
